Murray Stroud Smith

Murray Stroud Smith, 88, of Orlando, FL passed into eternal life on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Murray was born in Ellisville, Mississippi on September 28, 1932.  He was the 2nd of 5 children born to Rev. Harmon Lee Smith and Mary Magdaline O’Donnell Smith.

He was a proud 1954 alumni of Ole Miss “Hotty Toddy” receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education followed by 4 years in the U.S. Air Force.

He lived his life with love, humor, humility and integrity.  A man of faith, he thought deeply and spoke thoughtfully.  He expressed patience and kindness, except in bad traffic and sometimes on the golf course.  Murray will be lovingly remembered for his love of golf, music, his beautiful voice, his jokes  (which made him laugh as much as the rest of us) and his pride for his Irish heritage.

But first and foremost, he was a loving husband to his wife, Judi of 39 years, loving father to his sons, Kevin (Beth) and Kelly (Marybeth) and stepdaughter, Stephanie (Joe) and a proud PaPa to his grandchildren, Bennett (Lauren) Ellen, David (Heather), Kevin, Joshua, Dominic, Sophia and great grands, Caroline, Charlotte and Hudson.

He will be greatly missed and remembered by them as well as his brother, Harmon (Donna), Michael (Josie), sister Patsye (Jay), nephews, nieces and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bob and sister-in-law, Amilda.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to The First United Methodist Church of Orlando, 142 E. Jackson St., Orlando, FL, 32801.

The family will have a celebration of life gathering at a future date.
