Joan Marie Sullivan

Joan Marie Sullivan
January 19, 1944 – October 3,  2022

Joan was born in Denver, CO to Henry and Margaret Hertzog on January 19, 1944. She graduated from South High School in 1961.  Joan grew up with her parents, grandmother and brothers on South Sherman St. in Denver, Colorado.
In April 1963, Joan married Charles Meacham. Joan and Chuck had two daughters (Cindy and Susie), and were married 14 years.

Joan spent 60 years of her life in Colorado, 4 years in California and 15 years in Florida.

Aside from her family, another highlight in Joan’s life was finding the love of her life, Jim Sullivan. Joan and Jim married July 7th, 1979. Joan and Jim were married 38 years. Joan had the joy of many travels in her lifetime which include Ireland, France, Africa, Hungary, Germany and several European and Caribbean cruises. She was a purposeful walker……in fact, she was the energizer bunny of walking. Other interests in her life include love for animals, her most precious being Little Levi. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzler. Joan enjoyed book clubs, Bible studies, playing bridge and she loved cooking. Some things that might surprise you are: riding a camel in Morocco, parasailing in Mexico, kayaking with Cindy in Florida and roller blading in Garland Park. Joan spent much of her life being active in Church and spent many hours volunteering with various philanthropic organizations.

As a single mother Joan held down a full time job, finished her bachelors degree, raised two daughters (which could not have been easy), and made a successful life on her own until she married Jim.

In her youth and into her adult life, Joan held onto close friendships. Some of which include people from church and high school, and members from her Girl Scout troop who still keep in touch to this day!

Joan is predeceased in death by her parents and husband Jim. She is survived by her daughter Cindy DeForest (Robert “Bob”); her daughter, Susan “Susie” Hendrix (David); and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Joan’s memorial service will be held at Faith Viera Lutheran Church 5550 Faith Dr. , Rockledge, FL  32955  321-636-5504 on Friday, October 14, 2022 followed by a visit to the beach which was her happy place.
