Barbara Ann Schlachter

Barbara Ann Schlachter died at hospice August 5th, 2021 in Orlando Fl., following a battle with cancer, she was 82.

Barbara was born on Sept. 14, 1938 in Colchester Vermont.  She was preceded in death by her husband Henry J. Schlachter Jr. And her sons Joseph Morris Jr. Henry Schlachter III, sister Doris Reynells, brothers Joey and Larry Newell and Her parents Ernest and Rita.

She is survived by her daughter Angie Recu and her husband Joel Recu, her son John M. Schlachter Sr. and his wife Kristyn Lynn Schlachter and her daughter in law Velanne Schlachter,  additionally  her Sister Rose Bouchard and brother in law Gerry Reynells, Her Grandchildren and Great grandchildren

In 1980 Barbara graduated from the James Monroe Vocational Center in Leesburg, Virginia with a degree in nursing as a licensed practical nurse. After graduation she worked at the Leesburg Regional Hospital working and caring for children in the acute rehab center. She later in 1987 took a position with Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections nurse at the county jail.

She has been a faithful member of the Catholic Church and her last years were spent finding her relationship with the Lord appose to a religion.  She was beautifully baptized in 2020.

She served on many volunteer projects to feed the homeless and helped out on various church organizations through her love of cooking.

She always said do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others. 

The family will hold a small private ceremony and celebration of her life on September 5TH at the Cape Canaveral Veterans’ Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her late husband Hank.
