Christopher (Chris) Darnell Bennett, 40, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Adventist Health in Orlando, Florida.

Chris was born on September 10, 1982 to Harold L. Bennett Sr. and the late Virnetta J. Bennett in Sumter, South Carolina. He attended the public schools in Sumter County District 17 and graduated from Sumter High School in 2000. He later received a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, South Carolina and a Master of Business Administration from Everest University in Jacksonville, Florida.

Chris was employed at 401k Generation, where he worked as a financial advisor. He didn’t just enjoy his job, but he loved and valued his work family as well. Chris spent 17 years in the Financial Services Industry.  His passion was wealth management, and he loved sharing knowledge with others.  Chris had a deep desire to see others gain financial stability. His heart’s desire was to teach financial literacy to young adults so that they could position themselves to leave a legacy for their children.

In addition to his mother, Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents (George and Lottie Pearline Bennett), maternal grandfather (Henry Jackson Sr.) and his favorite aunt (Audrey J. Baxter).

The following people will be left to cherish his memories: his wife, Bisi Bennett; son, Dorian Bennett; father, Harold L. Bennett Sr.; grandmother, Virginia Jackson; parents-in-law, Daniel and Janet Ogunjumo; five siblings, Harold L. Bennett, Jr., Doretha James, Yvonne L. (Raymond) Johnson, Debra Bennett and Jeremy (Star) Baxter; one sister-in-law, Toyin Ogunjumo; two brothers-in-law, Ayo (Fenia) Ogunjumo and Seun (Ana) Ogunjumo; a special uncle, Otis Baxter; and a host of other relatives (uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces) and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Cancer Research Institute.
